Day 8: Sunlight Through Evergreen Trees

by Paul Manoian on January 8, 2010

Winter in Michigan can be so dreary. It seems like all we ever have is a solid gray sky that provides nothing but dull flat light. So, when I saw the sun actually trying to poke through I quickly pulled over and grabbed a shot with my iPhone of the only evergreen trees in the area.

I really wish I had more time to work with the shot, but I thought I should take what I could get since there weren’t any guarantees the snow would even be on the trees later in the day.  For what it’s worth, I went out for lunch and couldn’t even spot the sun … nothing but solid gray dull sky.  I’m glad I at least saw the sun today.

What do you think?  Is this shot worthy or is it a cop out?

I think the shot turned out very well, Paul. How cold is it there btw?

Joel, thanks! It was about 28 degrees when I took this photo. It broke 32 that day though and the snow on the branches melted.
