Meet Gavin, a senior from Northville who competes in track and field at Fr. Gabriel Richard High School in Ann Arbor. From the very beginning, he knew exactly what he wanted for his senior pictures. His top priority was capturing what defines him most right now … being a Thrower.
For the athletic portion of the session, we used the throwing circle at Madonna University since his school doesn’t have one on campus. It was the perfect location to get the dramatic light and wide-open space needed for action shots. As soon as Gavin stepped into the ring with a discus in hand, he got into the zone. His posture shifted. His focus sharpened. Every movement was intentional and confident.
We were able to capture a full sequence of discus senior pictures that didn’t just look athletic. They felt like him. The intensity, the strength, and the precision of a seasoned thrower came through in every frame. These images go far beyond simple portraits. They tell the story of an athlete who has put in the work and shows up with purpose.
After we wrapped the throwing shots, we headed into a more relaxed downtown Northville setting to finish the session. Those images brought in a casual vibe while still keeping Gavin front and center. Although the action shots were the highlight, it was great to balance them with a few Northville senior pictures that showed a different side of his personality.
