Kai is a senior at Pioneer High School, and Ann Arbor was the only place he wanted for his senior pictures. He kept the entire session calm and relaxed, which worked beautifully with the locations we chose. Even though we were past peak fall color, we were still able to find warm tones and a few pockets of golden leaves to build the look he hoped for. Ann Arbor has a way of holding onto its fall charm longer than most places, and this session is a great example.
We started with nature for a soft and simple backdrop. Neutral tones, taller grasses, and quiet color helped Kai ease into the session without feeling rushed. He wanted fall in his photos, and the gentle shift of the season actually added a natural, understated feel that worked well with his style.
From there, we moved to the graffiti alley for a completely different look. Kai stayed steady and comfortable through all of it, which helped pull out the contrast between textured walls and his laid back expressions. Parents often appreciate sessions with both natural settings and brighter urban moments, and Ann Arbor makes that mix easy.
We ended at the University of Michigan Law Quad, which always brings a classic finish to any senior gallery. The stone arches, clean walkways, and warm color in the trees created the perfect backdrop for softer portraits. Kai looked right at home here, and the setting helped highlight his personality without overwhelming the frame.
