When Kevin, a senior at Novi High School, said he wanted to do his session in Ann Arbor, I knew we were in for a great mix of backdrops. He wanted his senior pictures to include a blend of urban energy, natural settings, and clean, classic looks and Ann Arbor delivered on all three.

We started downtown near some of the city’s most colorful murals for a fun, laid-back vibe. Kevin has a calm confidence that photographs really well, and the bright artwork added a pop of personality without overpowering his style. From there, we moved to a few of my favorite architectural spots for a more timeless look that parents love.

He brought a mix of outfits that worked perfectly across settings. His Novi varsity jacket and soccer gear gave a nod to his athletic side, while a sharp suit look brought a more polished and refined tone to the session. Thoughtful wardrobe choices like these make a huge difference in the final gallery, especially when switching between urban and classic backgrounds.

We wrapped up with natural light portraits around the University of Michigan campus. The neutral tones and stone architecture gave everything a balanced, professional feel. Even though it was a morning session without dramatic sunrise light, the even, soft lighting worked beautifully to keep the focus on Kevin and his natural expressions.
