As a Detroit wedding photographer, I have the opportunity to photograph beautiful weddings throughout Metro Detroit and southeast Michigan. One of the most inspiring locations for an intimate wedding has to be The Whitney in downtown Detroit, MI.
The Whitney is a 21,000 square foot mansion with 52 rooms, 218 windows and 20 fireplaces. It even has a secret vault in the dining room! It is located on Woodward Avenue and was completed in 1894. It was designed for David Whitney and built in the Romanesque style by talented Detroit architect Gordon W. Lloyd using a rare variety of pink granite from South Dakota.
A newspaper in 1894 described the mansion as “the most elaborate and substantial residence in this part of the country.” There’s no wonder since it took four years build at a cost of $400,000!
The photos from this bridal session are absolutely stunning! The gown our bride is wearing is from Winnie Couture, known for haute bridal fashion.
If you are planning a wedding in Metro Detroit or southeast Michigan, I would love the opportunity to work with you and capture your big day! Please feel free to contact me online or call 313-883-9500 for additional information.
