The studio is conveniently located near downtown Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan Central Campus, Main Street, and several public parking options.
If you have a headshot, portrait, or other photography session scheduled at the studio, I recommend allowing a few extra minutes to park and walk over. Downtown Ann Arbor is easy to navigate, but parking and traffic can be busier during University of Michigan events, football weekends, Art Fair, and other major downtown events.
Garage Parking Near the Ann Arbor Studio
For most clients, I recommend using one of the nearby city parking structures instead of hunting for an open space on the street.
Fourth & Washington Parking Structure
123 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104
This is probably the easiest parking option for most studio clients. The structure is approximately one block south of Huron Street, making it a very short walk to the studio.
Once you park, walk north toward Huron Street.
Ann & Ashley Parking Structure
220 N. Ashley St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104
The Ann & Ashley structure is another good option, particularly if you’re approaching downtown from Main Street or the west side of Ann Arbor.
It is several blocks from the studio, but still an easy downtown walk.
Fourth & William Parking Structure
115 E. William St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104
If the closer structures are busy, Fourth & William provides another large public parking option south of the studio.
Keep in mind that downtown parking access can occasionally change because of construction. As of September 2026, the Fourth Avenue entrance and exit at this structure are closed, while the William Street entrance remains open.
Street Parking in Downtown Ann Arbor
Metered street parking is available throughout downtown Ann Arbor, including streets surrounding the studio. Availability varies quite a bit depending on the time of day.
As of September 2026, Ann Arbor parking meters are enforced Monday through Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Metered parking is free during evenings, on Sundays, and on designated city holidays. The current city meter rate is $2.60 per hour, although parking rates can change.
Parking structures currently charge $1.80 per hour, making a structure both easier and, in many cases, less expensive than street parking. City parking structures are open 24/7, with parking free on Sundays from 4:00 a.m. Sunday through 4:00 a.m. Monday.
Always check the posted signs and meter information when you park.
Directions From I-94 East or West
If you’re coming from Detroit, Metro Airport, Jackson, Chelsea, or another location along I-94, downtown Ann Arbor is easy to reach.
Take I-94 to the State Street exit, Exit 177.
Head north on State Street toward downtown Ann Arbor. Continue toward the downtown area and follow your GPS toward 120 E. Huron St.
If you’re parking at the Fourth & Washington structure, enter 123 E. Washington St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104 as your destination instead.
University of Michigan also recommends Exit 177 at State Street for visitors approaching Ann Arbor on I-94 from either direction.
Directions From US-23 North
If you’re coming from the Toledo area or communities south of Ann Arbor, take US-23 North.
Take Exit 37B for Washtenaw Avenue toward Ann Arbor.
Continue west on Washtenaw Avenue toward downtown. As you approach Central Campus, Washtenaw eventually feeds traffic toward the downtown Ann Arbor street network and Huron Street.
From there, follow your navigation to 120 E. Huron St. or directly to the Fourth & Washington parking structure.
Directions From US-23 South
If you’re coming from Brighton, Flint, or communities north of Ann Arbor, take US-23 South toward Ann Arbor.
Merge onto M-14 West and take Exit 3 for Downtown Ann Arbor.
The exit leads into Main Street. Continue south on Main Street toward downtown, then turn left onto Huron Street.
The studio is located at 120 E. Huron St.
This route is also commonly recommended for visitors approaching downtown from northern Michigan and the US-23 corridor.
Directions From M-14 and the Detroit Suburbs
Clients coming from Plymouth, Northville, Livonia, Farmington, Novi, or the northwest Detroit suburbs may find M-14 to be one of the easiest approaches.
Follow M-14 west toward Ann Arbor and take Exit 3 for Downtown Ann Arbor.
The exit becomes Main Street. Continue south into downtown Ann Arbor and turn left onto Huron Street.
The studio is located at 120 E. Huron St.
Coming From Downtown Ann Arbor or the University of Michigan
If you’re already downtown or on the University of Michigan Central Campus, the studio is within easy walking distance of much of central Ann Arbor.
The studio sits on Huron Street between the Main Street area and Central Campus. Depending on where you’re coming from, you may find that walking is easier than moving your vehicle and parking again.
Give Yourself a Few Extra Minutes
Downtown Ann Arbor is usually straightforward to navigate, but this is one place where arriving exactly one minute before your appointment can turn into an unnecessary adventure.
I recommend planning to arrive downtown about 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled session. That gives you time to park, walk to the studio, and arrive without feeling rushed.
During University of Michigan football games, graduation weekends, move-in periods, Art Fair, or other major events, allow additional time. Parking rates and traffic patterns can also change during special events.
