If the Detroit Institute of Arts provided the perfect setting for timeless elegance, the Fisher Building took Autumn and Gerard’s engagement portrait session to an entirely different level.
After spending the first part of the day creating stunning engagement portraits at the DIA, we headed to one of Detroit’s most breathtaking interior spaces for a completely different look.
The moment we stepped inside the Fisher Building, it was obvious we had found the perfect location to complete their vision.
With its dramatic Art Deco details, marble walls, ornate gold accents, and incredible architectural craftsmanship, the Fisher Building offered exactly the luxury atmosphere Autumn and Gerard wanted for their engagement portraits.
And honestly, it felt like the building was designed specifically for sessions like this.
I Cannot Recommend Paul Enough
I cannot recommend Paul enough! From the very beginning, he instantly understood the vision we had for our engagement sessions photos and brought it to life even better than I imagined. His creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail made the entire experience feel effortless and enjoyable.
What really stood out was how much time and care he put into every shot. He provided honest feedback and guidance throughout the session to make sure we look our best and captured perfect moments. It never felt rushed. Paul was genuinely invested in creating beautiful images that that we would love forever.
If you’re looking for a photographer who truly listens, understands your vision, and goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional results, Paul is the one. We are so grateful for this experience.

Why the Fisher Building Is One of Detroit's Best Engagement Portrait Locations
Detroit has no shortage of beautiful engagement photo locations, but few offer the visual impact of the Fisher Building. Often referred to as Detroit's largest art object, the building combines architectural grandeur with intimate spaces that create incredible variety within a single session.
For couples who want engagement portraits that stand apart from typical outdoor locations, the Fisher Building offers something truly unique.
The combination of historic architecture and luxury design creates images that feel sophisticated, dramatic, and completely timeless.
It's easy to see why it remains one of my favorite locations in Detroit.
A Perfect Match for Their Vision
From the beginning, Autumn and Gerard envisioned engagement portraits that felt glamorous and refined. Their wardrobe choices played a huge role in bringing that vision to life.
Autumn's stunning black gown sparkled beautifully under the building's warm lighting, while Gerard's tuxedo provided a classic and timeless look that complemented every scene we created. Together, they looked perfectly at home within the rich textures and elegant details of the Fisher Building. The formal styling elevated every image while allowing their personalities and connection to remain the focus.
One of the things I loved most about this session was how effortlessly they moved between playful moments and dramatic portraits.
One moment they were laughing together in front of the iconic gold elevator doors. The next, they were creating images that looked like they belonged in a luxury bridal publication.
That balance is what made this session so special.
Detroit's Art Deco Masterpiece
One of the most recognizable features of the Fisher Building is its incredible Art Deco design.
Nearly every corner offers a unique backdrop filled with texture, pattern, and visual interest. The golden elevator doors became one of my favorite locations during the session, creating a striking contrast against the couple's formal black attire. The grand corridors and dramatic lighting added another layer of sophistication that simply can't be replicated elsewhere.
For couples looking for engagement portraits that feel elevated and unforgettable, the Fisher Building delivers an experience unlike any other location in metro Detroit.
More Than Just Beautiful Architecture
As incredible as the Fisher Building is, the location alone isn't what made these images successful. What truly stands out is the connection between Autumn and Gerard.
Throughout the session, they were completely present with one another. Their chemistry, laughter, and genuine affection created photographs that feel authentic rather than posed.
The architecture provided the setting. Their relationship provided the story. That's what transforms a beautiful portrait into a meaningful one.
A Session That Felt Like Detroit
One of the things I love most about pairing the Detroit Institute of Arts with the Fisher Building is how well the two locations complement one another.
The DIA provided classic exterior architecture and elegant outdoor portraits.
The Fisher Building added luxury interiors, rich textures, and iconic Art Deco character.
Together, they created a complete Detroit engagement portrait experience that perfectly reflected Autumn and Gerard's vision.
With their wedding just around the corner, this session was the perfect way to celebrate this exciting season of their lives. If these engagement portraits are any indication, their wedding day is going to be absolutely incredible.
If you haven't seen Part 1 of their session at the Detroit Institute of Arts, be sure to check it out as well. The combination of these two iconic Detroit locations created one unforgettable engagement portrait experience.
