When parents start planning senior pictures, one of the biggest questions is always location.
Do you go somewhere natural? Do you head into the city? Do you try to fit everything into one session?
Gina’s senior pictures answered that question in the best way possible. Instead of choosing just one direction, we built a session that combined both. She’s a senior at Marine City High School, and with water being such a big part of her life, that had to be part of the plan. At the same time, she wanted the energy and variety that comes with Detroit.
So we did both.
We started on Belle Isle, which is one of the best spots for senior pictures in Detroit if you want a natural setting without leaving the city. The water views, skyline in the background, and open space gave us a relaxed start to the session. Gina made it easy from the beginning. She came in calm, confident, and ready to have fun, which always makes a difference in how a session flows.
Those waterfront images feel effortless, but they’re also personal. When a location actually means something to a senior, it shows in the final photos.
From there, we moved into downtown Detroit, and this is where the session really opened up. One of the biggest advantages of doing senior pictures in Detroit is the variety you can get without traveling far. In one session, you can go from natural waterfront images to architecture, city streets, rooftops, and everything in between.
We made stops at the Detroit Institute of Arts for a clean, timeless look, then mixed in rooftop images with the skyline behind her, and wrapped things up with some of the alley and street scenes that give Detroit its character.
Each location added something different to Gina’s gallery. The result is a set of images that doesn’t feel repetitive or limited to one style.
For parents, this is where planning really matters. You don’t have to choose between nature and city. You don’t have to settle for one look. With the right approach, you can build a session that gives your senior a full experience and a gallery that feels complete.
Gina’s session is a great example of how that comes together. It reflects her personality, her connection to the water, and her excitement going into the session, all while taking advantage of everything Detroit has to offer.
If you’re planning senior pictures and want more than just one location or one look, this is exactly the kind of session we can create together.
