This behind the scenes photo shoot video captures the creative team involved in an on-location bridal couture photo shoot in Downtown Detroit at The Whitney.
The Whitney is an impressive mansion on Woodward Avenue near downtown Detroit. The home was completed in 1894 and was designed for David Whitney, Jr., a major lumber baron in his day. It was built in the Romanesque style by respected Detroit architect Gordon W. Lloyd using South Dakota Jasper, a rare variety of pink granite.
The 21,000 square foot home has 52 rooms, 218 windows, 20 fireplaces, a secret vault in the original dining room and an elevator. Construction took four years at a cost of $400,000. A newspaper described the mansion in 1894 as “the most elaborate and substantial residence in this part of the country.”
The Creative Team photographed 9 different looks throughout the mansion in under 90 minutes which puts this into the “Speed Shoot” category. This shoot was only possible because of the team’s experience and the fact that the locations/looks were thought out well in advance.
Clearly, I would never be able to pull off a shoot like this by myself. I was truly a coordinated effort between industry professionals!
