Lena is a senior at Franklin High School in Livonia, and she and her mom already had downtown Plymouth picked out when we started planning her senior pictures.
They had driven around the area beforehand, liked what they saw, and knew they wanted to use the fountain. Easy enough. We met there early in the morning so we could take advantage of the softer light and get started before downtown got busy.
The fountain gave us a great place to start, but we definitely weren’t going to stay in one spot for three hours.
Lena booked one of my three-hour senior sessions, so we had plenty of time to walk around and see what else we could find. That’s one of the things I like about downtown Plymouth. You can go from the fountain and green spaces to big white columns, old brick buildings and tucked-away alleys without spending half the session driving around.
We also changed up Lena’s outfits along the way. I especially liked the red leather jacket toward the end of the session. Against some of the older brick and industrial backgrounds, it gave those pictures a completely different look from where we started that morning.
And really, that’s the point.
You don’t have to pick between pretty outdoor senior pictures and something with a little more edge. With enough time and the right location, we can do both.
If you’re planning Franklin High School senior pictures for a Class of 2027 senior, you don’t need to show up with a complete plan. Lena and her mom found a place they liked and we took it from there. Whether your senior wants downtown Plymouth, Detroit, Ann Arbor or someplace I haven’t photographed before, I’m always up for exploring.
Want senior pictures that actually mean something? I’ll help you create a session that feels like you. Let’s plan something that tells your story and highlights where you’re headed next.
