Farmington Senior Pictures at St. Andrew's Hall

Senior pictures should reveal something about the person in them. For Lucas, a senior at Farmington High School (Farmington, Michigan), that meant heading to Detroit and centering his session around two things he’s truly passionate about: baseball and Marvel.

And yes, that meant getting up incredibly early to make it happen.

Lucas is a night owl, so a 6:45 a.m. photo shoot probably wasn’t his ideal schedule. It seems we caught him before his coffee, before he was in a good mood, or possibly before both. However, starting early let us enjoy the streets of Detroit without the usual crowds or traffic, plus we had magnificent morning light for his senior photos.

Baseball wasn’t just an element we added to Lucas’s session for a flashy shot. He’s been playing since tee-ball and hopes to keep playing or stay involved with the sport after high school. So, naturally, we had to include Comerica Park in his session.

Lucas brought out his “Motor City” jersey and his glove for those shots, giving us the chance to create baseball images that really mean something to him. Afterward, we explored downtown Detroit, mixing city streets, architecture, and the skyline for a completely different look.

Then there’s Lucas’s other big passion: Marvel. He loves the comics and the movies and isn’t afraid to critique or rank them.

When you have a student who loves Marvel and you find a giant Infinity Gauntlet mural in Detroit, you can’t just walk on by. We incorporated the mural and one of Lucas’s comic books into the session. Those ended up being some of my favorite images because they reflect something deeply personal to him. In a few years, there will be a real story behind those photos.
