As a Detroit photographer, I shoot portrait sessions at some great locations throughout southeast Michigan. But, some of my favorite sessions lately have been done on a beach. The serenity of the water and the texture of the sand seem to provide a great backdrop for incredible portraits.

Most recently, I had the opportunity to work with Yeni for a maternity portrait session. We used a Metro Detroit beach for our session and had a portion of it all to ourselves. Perhaps the overcast skies had kept the normal beach goers home, but we didn’t care. Even though the sky was gray, the sun provided some beautiful orange light for our session and the results and absolutely stunning. Of course, it helped having a beautiful muse for the session too!

I just started going through the proofs from Yeni’s session and posted one to Facebook the day after the session as a quick glimpse into the session. I’ve been going through the proofs and had a challenging time narrow down the incredible proofs for her sneak peek blog post. In the end, I narrowed it down to a selection that I felt really captured Yeni’s beauty and joy of pregnancy. I absolutely love the way they turned out!
