Senior Pictures. Senior Pics. Senior Portraits. The names may change, but they’re still all the same. More and more graduating seniors are clamoring for outdoor, on-location lifestyle photography. That is definitely where it is at now and I don’t see it returning in the near future … or EVER for that matter! Gone are the days of studio senior pictures sessions with wicker chairs or mini blinds and spot lights for a “background” – GONE for the BETTER!
Senior pictures with fall colors always produce great images and my recent session from Vatsala was no exception! Vatsala’s mom specifically requested senior portraits with fall colors so we picked one of the best locations in southeast Michigan and hit the leaves early in the morning. Even through the Michigan fall colors were not at their peak this year due to the strange hot-cold-hot-cold temperature cycles, we still were able to capture some great images!
Fall colors for senior pictures are nearly impossible to plan since there are so many factors that come into play. Everything from the air temperature to the amount of rain during the summer months to the mineral content of the soil can drastically impact the colors. Even so, “peak color” usually only lasts two to three weeks in Michigan. Even then, one rain or wind storm can blow them to the ground overnight. That’s why it is so important to schedule sessions for senior pictures with fall colors early in the year. You can’t wait until the colors actually arrive since the schedule is almost guaranteed to be booked solid by then!
I have been going through her Vatsala’s images for her online proof gallery and really like they way they are turning out. I included some of my favorites so far as a sneak peek below since I know her friends and family are anxious to see them. Which one is your favorite? Please be sure to let her know by leaving a comment so she can receive some free prints from her session!
