He’s a senior at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, MI, and he chose downtown Detroit for his senior portraits. Honestly? A perfect choice. If you’ve ever walked the streets downtown near the morning golden hour, you know exactly what I mean. The textures, the light bouncing off buildings—it all came together like a movie set.
We started the session at Comerica Park, where Leo’s love for the Tigers added some extra excitement to the backdrop. Then we made our way through the city, hitting up spots like the Detroit Institute of Arts and a few of my favorite alleyways with killer graffiti and gritty textures. Oh, and yes, we even got a shot with a brand-new Corvette. It doesn’t get more Detroit than that.

One of my favorite moments was when Leo casually leaned against a column outside Comerica Park. He looked completely in his element. The early morning sun caught just enough edge to add drama to the shot without overwhelming it. Later, we moved to the center of a street downtown with the Renaissance Center looming in the background. That image is pure Detroit energy.
