My family went camping in northern Michigan this past weekend and we met the most wonderful family in the site next to us. As a Michigan child photographer, I was thrilled to find out they had twin girls that were turning 7 years old that weekend.
As luck would have it, I was able to hold an impromptu photo session on the beach that day for them. I love photographing twins and multiples; their bond with each other is typically far different than that of “normal” siblings. These girls were no different and were great to work with and absolutely loved running on the beach and splashing in the water. The only downside to doing a portrait session like this is, of course, dealing with full sun. A few tweaks of the aperture, a 1/4000 sec shutter speed and some fill lighting was all it took to overcome the challenges.
Their proofs turned out exceptionally well. I shot well over 400 photos over the course of an hour and it has been extremely difficult weeding through them to get the count down to something more realistic for their online proof gallery. As a child photographer, I work with a lot of children under the age of 10, but these girls were so stinkin’ cute it has been nearly impossible to set any aside. Needless to say, I really hope I have the opportunity to work with them again.

Maria, thanks for the kind words! Please stay tuned as I’ve completed portrait sessions with 3 month old twin girls and 3 year old triplets within the past week. I’ll be providing an update once I am able to get through the 900 proofs. 😉
